Jesus is above all

Jan 4, 2026    Pastor Jacob Gray

This powerful introduction to the Book of Hebrews confronts us with three critical questions about our spiritual identity: Are we believers struggling with trials? Do we have head knowledge of God without heart transformation? Or are we still observing from the outside, not yet saved? The message reveals that Hebrews was written to address all three groups, making it uniquely relevant regardless of where we find ourselves. We discover that the author learned directly from those who witnessed Jesus rise from the dead—men who chose martyrdom over denying what they saw. This isn't a faith built on convenience or cultural tradition; it's rooted in eyewitness testimony so compelling that people died rather than recant. The challenge comes when we examine our own spiritual growth: Are we still spiritual babies after years of faith, or are we maturing into teachers and servants? Faith, we learn, isn't something we manufacture—it's a divine gift, a persuasion from God Himself that what He says is true. But here's the critical point: we're responsible for using the faith God has given us. Like an unwrapped gift buried under clutter, unused faith accomplishes nothing. The question isn't whether God has equipped us, but whether we'll allow His Word to transform our minds daily, moving from knowledge about God to intimate knowledge of God Himself.
