Building faith on truth
This powerful exploration of Hebrews chapter 1 confronts us with the most critical question we'll ever answer: Who is Jesus? In a world where many religions acknowledge Jesus as a prophet or good teacher, we're challenged to recognize Him as the Son of God—equal with God, part of the Trinity, and the only way to salvation. The message cuts through religious confusion with surgical precision: it's not Jesus and our good works, not Jesus and church membership, not Jesus and anything else. It's Jesus alone. The foundation of our faith must be built on truth, specifically the truth of God's Word, which stands forever even as people, pastors, and churches come and go. We're reminded that God has spoken to us throughout history—through the prophets in the Old Testament and ultimately through His Son. This isn't just theological information; it's the difference between eternal life and eternal separation from God. The call is clear: we cannot worship a Jesus of our own making, shaped by our preferences and cultural sensibilities. We must worship the Jesus of Scripture—the Word made flesh, through whom all things were created, who died for our sins and rose again. Our faith cannot rest on what our church teaches or what feels comfortable, but solely on what God has revealed in His unchanging Word.
