Faith in the family Pt. 3

Nov 16, 2025    Pastor Jacob Gray

At the heart of this powerful message lies a profound truth we often overlook: the family unit is Satan's primary target because it affects every moment of our lives. Drawing from Colossians 3 and Ephesians 6, we're confronted with God's blueprint for family relationships that comes with an extraordinary promise—the first commandment with a promise attached. When children honor their parents and parents raise their children in godly instruction without provoking them to discouragement, God promises blessing, longevity, and generational impact. This isn't just about behavior modification; it's about recognizing that our homes are battlegrounds where eternal destinies are shaped. The sermon challenges us to examine whether we're living one way in public and another at home, reminding us that real faith produces real change in how we relate to those closest to us. The call to obey parents 'in all things' and the warning against provoking children through favoritism, neglect, or inconsistent discipline aren't burdensome rules—they're protective boundaries that unlock God's blessing. We're invited to believe that God cares deeply about rescuing our families, that teenagers don't have to be prodigals, and that generational curses can be broken when we align our homes with Scripture. The question isn't whether God can transform our families, but whether we'll trust Him enough to do it His way.
