Will we believe God?

Jan 4, 2026    Pastor Jacob Gray

This powerful message centers on the story of the Shunammite woman from 2 Kings 8, revealing a profound truth about God's individual care for His people. While we often focus on grand miracles like parting seas or feeding multitudes, this passage reminds us that God orchestrates personal miracles in the lives of ordinary believers. The woman's story demonstrates three critical principles for experiencing God's provision: first, we must hear from God and obey Him, even when His instructions seem unusual or costly. Her willingness to leave her home for seven years based on a prophet's warning saved her entire family, illustrating how one person's obedience can have generational impact. Second, we must be willing to ask, believing that God is working behind the scenes in ways we cannot see. When she returned to claim her property, God had already positioned the right person—Gehazi, the leprous servant—to advocate for her before the king. Finally, we must watch and see how God provides, trusting that He doesn't just restore what we've lost but gives back abundantly. The king returned not only her land but all the proceeds from seven years she'd missed. This challenges us to examine our own faith: Are we truly believing God's promises, or have we allowed doubt and disappointment to diminish our expectations? The call is clear—we serve a God who delights in doing the impossible for those who trust Him completely.
